Restart Plan – Reconvening “in Person” Council and Committee Meetings

The District of Metchosin is committed to being accountable to the public, as well as, keeping the health and safety of our community, Council and staff a priority.

Council has decided to open the Council Chambers to the public for meetings.  Only the Council Chambers will be open, the public is not permitted in any other area of the Municipal Hall.

At this time, 12 seats will be available for presenters and members of the public, face masks are encouraged.  In addition, the meetings will also be recorded, using zoom, to provide everyone a chance to view the meetings thereafter.

Presenters will have priority seating and are included in the 12 maximum seats available. If you are interested in attending the meeting, you will be required to line up, practicing 6 feet physical distancing, at the back door that enters the Council Chambers.  The door will open shortly before the meeting begins. Once the maximum of 12 seats are filled, no others will be permitted to enter.  The Fire Chief will be in attendance to ensure proper protocols are being adhered to, as well as, directing the public in and out of the Council Chambers.

If you are in attendance, you will be required to register your name and contact information. This information will only be used as a COVID-19 tracker, should it be required.

If you have any questions about the meeting, please contact the Office at 250-474-3167, or by email at info@metchosin.ca.

Committee Meetings – In order to provide the public an opportunity for comments during decision making, Council will endeavor to conduct Committee meetings for the purpose of discussion and recommendations on matters via Zoom, during the COVID19 pandemic. The recorded meetings will be uploaded to the website in order for the public to comment prior to Council ratifying the recommendations at a future Council meeting.
